About The Position

The City of Georgetown is now accepting applications for a current eligibility list. Position Overview: Responds to fire alarms and other emergency calls as required. Performs the necessary functions and operations to efficiently and effectively protect the lives and property of those in need of assistance. Provides public education on fire safety. Works according to set procedures under close supervision. Reports to the Fire Lieutenants. Starting Salary: $40,000 without EMT Certification

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by a minimum of two (2) years' experience in the firefighting field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications.
• Valid South Carolina Driver's License.
• EVDT, Pump Ops I, Pump Ops II, and Aerial Ops certifications.
• Hazmat Technician, ICS 100/200/700/800.
• Must be physically able to operate a variety of heavy machines and equipment.
• Must be able to exert up to five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
• Must be able to push, stoop, lift, pull, reach, kneel, climb, crouch, carry, or otherwise move objects.
• Work involves walking or standing for periods of time.
• Must be able to lift/carry weights of up to 80 pounds.
• Frequently requires time pressures, frequent change of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, irregular schedule/overtime, and working closely with others as part of a team.
• Occasionally requires tedious or exacting work and noisy/distracting environment.
• To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.
