About The Position

Under the direction of a shift officer, Captain, and/or Lieutenant, protect life and property through fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical care. Perform work on a full-time basis in an hourly position. This position will require the Firefighter work 24-hour shifts. The shifts begin at 0800 and end at 0800 the next day. The duty days and hours will be on an A-B-C shift schedule and may change at the discretion of the Director of Emergency Services / Fire Chief. This position is structured with three progressive medical certification levels: Level I EMT Pay Grade NE 4 Level II AEMT (Advanced EMT) Pay Grade NE 6 Level III EMT-P (Paramedic) Pay Grade NE 8 To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Requirements

6+ months of related experience.
High school Diploma or GED.
National Incident Management System (NIMS) IS-100, 200,700, & 800 within 2 months.
Kansas class B non-commercial license or higher within 6 months.
Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and HAZMAT Operations certifications within 12 months.
Kansas EMT certification (Level I - EMT)
Kansas AEMT certification (Level II - AEMT)
Kansas Paramedic certification (or EMT and obtain Kansas Paramedic in 6 months for in-school applicants or 2 months for out-of-state certified Paramedic applicants) (Level III - EMT-P)
Must possess a valid Kansas driver's license free of occupational restrictions, must be insurable with the Nation's insurance
