About The Position

The Fire Suppression System Lead is responsible for leading the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire suppression systems at Al Udeid Air Base. This role ensures all fire protection systems operate safely and reliably in compliance with NFPA standards, applicable military installation requirements, and local codes. The Lead serves as the on-site technical authority and provides supervision and direction to assigned personnel.

Requirements

  • Active Master or Journeyman Plumber License (required)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience specializing in fire suppression systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NFPA codes and fire suppression system installation and maintenance practices
  • Proven ability to lead and supervise field crews
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Must be able to meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy Requirements, as outlined in the USCENTCOM APR 23 MOD EIGHTEEN TO USCENTCOM INDIVIDUAL AND INDIVIDUAL-UNIT DEPLOYMENT POLICY
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid Residency Visa for Qatar
  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
  • Must have and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise fire suppression system work, including sprinkler systems, standpipes, fire pumps, valves, and specialty suppression systems
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, base-specific requirements, and company safety policies
  • Interpret and execute work based on blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings
  • Perform system testing, inspections, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance
  • Coordinate with base officials, inspectors, project managers, and other trades to ensure mission-critical systems remain operational
  • Provide leadership, training, and technical guidance to fire suppression technicians and apprentices
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including inspection reports, maintenance logs, and compliance records
  • Enforce OSHA, base safety standards, and company safety procedures
  • Assist with material planning, scheduling, and task prioritization to meet operational requirements
