About The Position

The Fire Engineer Intern will work under the guidance of senior engineers to support proactive engineering solutions for PG&E. This position provides hands‑on exposure to asset risk management, materials and failure analysis, and electrical engineering through laboratory and field-based work. The intern will support investigations related to ignition, thermal damage, and fire hazards involving electrical equipment (e.g., circuit breakers, transformers, switches) and hardware (e.g., conductors, connectors, insulators). The role includes participation in testing, inspection, data analysis, and technical report development. The intern will primarily support summer rapid failure analysis efforts, performing inspection, analysis, and reporting for projects involving fire hazard assessment and heat transport. This position requires hands‑on work in the ATS laboratory, including setup of test apparatus and instrumentation, and participation in laboratory and field ignition testing activities. This role may also support miscellaneous engineering and testing projects to ensure ATS continues to deliver high‑value, innovative, and cost‑effective solutions to PG&E business units.
