About The Position

The Fire Protection Engineering Associate is designed for companywide engineering and training support. The Fire Protection Engineering Associate will be responsible for providing fire protection technical support, ensuring compliance with code and legislative requirements, engaging with executive-level decision-makers, directing top-tier evaluation and training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field
  • Prior experience with a fire protection contractor or manufacturer (preferred)
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification (preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NFPA, ASTM, UL, FM, & ICC codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of fire protection systems, including: fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, standpipes, fire hydrant, clean agent systems, inert gas systems, wet & dry chemical systems, fire alarm, and mass notification systems
  • Hands-on experience in fire protection system design, installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance
  • Strong desire and ability to tackle a wide variety of problems within and outside direct area of expertise
  • Exceptional relationship-building, leadership, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deeply understand and stay current with major organizations and decision-makers in your assigned sector.
  • Represent yourself and Guardian Fire as a thought leader and trusted expert in your assigned sector.
  • Develop and lead training related to fire protection systems for technicians and office staff.
  • Provide design and installation review support services for fire protection system design, installation, and service teams.
  • Perform on-site system evaluations and audits for technical staff to ensure best practice workmanship.
  • Support technicians with fire protection inspection software functionality.
  • Support fire protection Inspection and Service documentation forms updates and compliance activities.
  • Perform on-site evaluations of system installation and support with final system testing.
  • Stay current on new systems and equipment and NFPA, ICC, UL, FM and local amendments to codes and standards and communicate changes to the organization.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and AHJs regarding complex technical fire protection.
  • Ensure adherence to state, local, and national licensing for all technicians and companies.
  • Coordinate closely with the executive leadership team on organization wide initiatives.
  • Organize, support, and lead initiatives in support of safety and compliance for field technician, warehouse, and office staff.
  • Review, manage, and maintain databases as it relates to your assigned sector.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to create sector-specific content and campaigns to engage with target audiences.
  • Attend relevant conferences, expos, and networking events within Guardian Fire's geographic footprint.
  • Establish Guardian Fire as an authorized or preferred partner/vendor with corporate entities within your assigned sector.
  • Regularly update the Vice President of Engineering and Compliance to communicate status of activities and performance.
