Fire Inspectors play a vital role in preventing, detecting, and mitigating the impact of fires. You will perform tasks such as minor repairs and visual and functional testing on fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems in accordance with all national and local standards.They also supply hands-on training and coaching to entry-level Inspectors. Our Fire/Life Safety Inspectors are crucial to a company's fire safety strategy, contributing to the protection of life, property, and business operations. Their role ensures compliance, mitigates risks, and provides peace of mind to all building owners.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience performing Inspections, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) of Fire Alarm and/or Fire Life Safety Systems
  • Electro-mechanical experience (either through professional experience and/or education)
  • Ability and willingness to work in a variety of environments in and around mechanical and electrical equipment, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment, working in ducts, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions; use hand tools, laptop (proficient in Microsoft Office), email, smartphone, and tablet; carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
  • Must be able to differentiate types/colors of wire
  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Associate degree in electronics or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience performing Inspections, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) of Fire Alarm and/or Fire Life Safety Systems
  • Ability to read/understand design and construction documents
  • Must obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level II within 12 months

Responsibilities

  • Follow and maintain high structured inspection schedules providing inspection, testing, and performing minor service and deficiency repairs for fire alarm equipment to comply with NFPA72 standards as well as state and local codes. Note deficiencies, remedies, and review pricing with customers. Complete service ticket documentation before leaving the customer site. Follow-up on corrective actions
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all tests performed. Generate reports within Siemens tools and upload to city municipality websites
  • Provide instructions to customer personnel regarding proper operation and routine inspections. Assist with training
  • Work overtime when needed, and maintain stock, tools, and equipment in vehicles
  • Adhere to local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures
  • Complete required training and certifications within the time requirements for this role
  • Assist higher-level inspectors with testing of fire pumps, wet systems, dry systems, tamper switches, water-flow devices, and hydrants
  • Assist with inspection, testing, and service for wet, dry, pre-action and deluge fire sprinkler systems; backflow preventers; water tanks; fire hydrants; foam-based systems; water mist systems; and fire pumps per NFPA 25 standards
