About The Position

KDG Construction Consulting is seeking a Fire Inspector to join our growing team. The Fire Inspector is responsible for conducting comprehensive fire and life safety inspections to ensure compliance with applicable fire codes, NFPA standards, and local, state, and federal regulations. This role requires a highly experienced professional and current NFPA certification, capable of providing expert guidance, enforcement, and education to promote public safety and fire prevention.

Requirements

  • Former Fire Marshal or equivalent senior fire prevention leadership experience
  • Extensive knowledge of NFPA codes, International Fire Code (IFC), and local fire regulations
  • Proven experience conducting fire inspections and enforcing fire prevention codes
  • Strong understanding of fire protection systems and life safety requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical documents
  • Strong judgment, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fire and life safety inspections of commercial, industrial, residential, and public facilities to ensure compliance with NFPA codes, fire ordinances, and building regulations
  • Review construction plans, permits, and fire protection system designs for compliance with fire and life safety requirements
  • Inspect and evaluate fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, standpipes, suppression systems, and emergency egress
  • Identify fire hazards and issue corrective action notices; follow up to ensure timely compliance
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, citations, and recommendations for corrective actions
  • Enforce fire prevention codes and regulations in a fair, consistent, and professional manner
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to building owners, contractors, engineers, and the public
  • Participate in fire investigations when required and assist with determining origin and cause
  • Support emergency response operations as needed, including pre-incident planning
  • Conduct fire safety education and outreach programs
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, documentation, and reports in accordance with department policies
