The Borough of Tenafly is seeking a candidate for 21 hours/per week, in a flexible work schedule. Under direction performs varied types of field and office work involved in enforcing New Jersey Uniform Fire Safety Act Codes and Borough regulations regarding Fire Safety. Responsibilities include inspection of both Life Hazard and non-Life Hazard properties and inspection of issued Fire Safety permits. The Fire Inspector will interact with the public providing education and inspection services as part of the Fire Prevention Bureau. Possession of a current and valid Fire Inspector or Fire Official certificate issued by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and a valid Driver's License are required. A candidate must be able to read and write English and have good verbal skills, basic computer skills, with the ability to use Microsoft Suite of products - Outlook, Word, and Excel, and the ability to provide excellent customer service. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Fire Safety Code Enforcement is required. Salary $27.00/hour, without benefits. The Borough of Tenafly is an equal opportunity employer.
