Supervises and directs all phases of emergency and non-emergency operations for assigned fire company. Command a fire company in executing fire suppression and fire prevention activities, rescue operations and emergency medical operations to protect and safeguard lives and property. Assists in the maintenance and repair of fire stations and equipment. Assumes and maintains the role of incident commander when first company at scene, until officially relieved. Regularly assigns and checks the work of others. Provides direction and guidance and maintains the flow of work. No budgetary responsibilities. Integral to the position of Captain is the responsibility for developing subordinates to their fullest potential by exercising appropriate degrees of coaching, training, guiding, evaluating, correcting, and, if necessary, disciplining.
