About The Position

primary function Performs duties related to the installation, repair, maintenance and alteration of all fire/safety devices and equipment. duties and responsibilities Inspect, overhaul, adjust, clean, test and repair all equipment associated with fire/safety systems. Includes smoke and heat detectors, fire panels, tamper switches, fire bells, pull stations and fire extinguishers. Maintains continuous service by operating and testing equipment on a monthly basis. Diagnosis and isolate mechanical and other faults. Knowledge of calibrated sensitivity instruments in order to insure that each smoke detector is within its listed and marked sensitivity range. Test and regulate fire/safety systems in accordance with prescribed technical procedures. Inspect all portable fire extinguishers, sprinkler and standpipe systems. Capable of deciphering blue prints and diagrams to ascertain layout, location and specifications of items to be installed. Assist Fire Marshal with tasks such as: fire alarm testing, annual fire extinguisher inspections, annual and five year testing of all wet sprinkler systems, org/pre-action/deluge sprinkler systems, fire pump testing, dry and wet standpipe systems. Maintain accurate records of all designated areas of responsibility associated with fire/safety systems. Maintain spare parts inventory associated with fire/safety systems. Observe sanitation, safety and housekeeping regulations. Cooperates in departments’ work improvement efforts. Practices excellent customer service. Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED/Trade School Diploma Required.
  • Three (3) years experience in electrical and electronic circuitry.
  • Four (4) years experience in lieu of schooling.
