About The Position

The Surgical Scheduler enhances the patient/customer experience by courteously and professionally scheduling inpatient/outpatient procedures and/or surgeries. The Surgical Scheduler supports delivery of the Jefferson Experience by placing emphasis on the prompt and courteous treatment of all patients. Primary Function: Performs all aspects of the scheduling process including scheduling Pre-Admission Testing appointments, creating encounters, insurance verification, surgical case scheduling, and surgical case coordination. These responsibilities are performed primarily at one location, but the associate may be required to occasionally work at an alternate site. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Collect and review patient insurance information to include but not limited to: obtaining prior authorizations (inpatient and outpatient) and referral information and ensure all necessary approvals are in place prior to the scheduled surgical procedure. Completes pre-procedure phone calls and confirms appointment times with patients via telephone. Provides patient with all necessary pre-operative instructions. Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security requirements. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards. Other duties as requested or assigned.
