About The Position

The Junior Fire Alarm Designer will assist in creating compliant fire alarm system designs for commercial and residential projects. This role requires proficiency in AutoCAD, attention to detail, and a strong desire to learn industry standards, codes, and emerging technologies in fire protection systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience using CAD software.
  • At least 2 years in a professional environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to think in three dimensions and apply mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
  • Positive 'can-do' attitude with patience to see complex projects through completion.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Desire to learn new software and technologies.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Associate degree in a related field (required)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare fire alarm shop drawings under the guidance of the Design Manager using AutoCAD.
  • Develop knowledge of fire alarm system components, code compliance requirements, and industry standards.
  • Create design drawings within time and budget constraints in compliance with applicable codes.
  • Maintain project drawing files, libraries, and associated records.
  • Apply for and obtain fire alarm and electrical permits for scheduled projects.
  • Schedule inspections with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and communicate details to field teams and stakeholders.
  • Assist with setup and maintenance of monitoring accounts across platforms.
  • Support monitored accounts and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Develop and implement fire alarm panel programs for field teams.
  • Maintain certifications and licensing for required systems and software.
  • Stay current with advancements in materials, software, and fire protection technologies.
  • Pursue ongoing education and training in new systems and technologies.
  • Ensure accuracy and demonstrate 'Pride of Ownership' in all deliverables.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, external customers, vendors, and AHJs.
