About The Position

STV is seeking a dynamic Fire Alarm Engineering Technician to join our Buildings team in our NYC office. Key responsibilities will include the planning and preparation of Fire Alarm designs, calculations, reports, equipment selection and specification writing for building and facilities projects. Additional responsibilities will include leading projects, working with and mentoring junior staff, meeting with clients to discuss project matters and making recommendations, when necessary, based on the clients’ needs. Required Experience: Successful candidate will have relevant experience designing wide variety of facilities for commercial, industrial, municipal, educational, laboratory, residential, institutional and governmental projects. The experience should be with all of the systems associated with Fire Alarm Electrical design as indicated under required skills. The candidate should be experienced with the survey and recording of existing systems. The candidate should be experienced with analyzing building, fire code and other applicable codes including applicable standards such as NFPA 72, ADA, ASME to determine fire alarm system requirements for the relevant building type. Focused experience with industrial projects, Federal and state agency projects, and/or local municipal projects is a plus. Required Skills: Candidate will have an Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and/or credential such as the NICET certification. A minimum of 10 years of experience. Candidate should have good planning, organizational and communications skills. The candidate should be knowledgeable in the design of fire alarm and fire detection systems. Candidate shall have an understanding of fire alarm design, NFPA and Building Codes, and capable of conducting current draw and voltage drop calculations. The ideal candidate will be proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with REVIT. A candidate with experience in using MicroStation and Bentley 3D is a plus. NICET certifications are preferred but not a requirement. Compensation Range: $74,112.66 - $98,816.88 Don’t meet every single requirement?
