About The Position

The Oregon State Fire Marshal (OSFM) is seeking a Fire Adapted Oregon Project Manager (Project Manager 3) to support the Fire Adapted Oregon and Community Risk Reduction Program. The OSFM's mission is to protect people, property, and the environment from fire and hazardous materials, guided by values of integrity, dedication, leadership, partnership, and service. This role involves managing complex, multi-division projects focused on wildfire for the built environment, developing program strategies, coordinating with OSFM divisions and partner agencies, and overseeing project teams to ensure compliance and successful implementation. The Project Manager will also track progress, mitigate risks, resolve issues, and provide regular status updates to executive leadership across multiple interconnected initiatives. This is a full-time, limited duration position, expected to last two years from the date of hire, with potential for extension or becoming permanent based on business need or funding. Limited duration appointments are benefits eligible. The position is classified as management service and is based at the Salem office in Oregon, with potential eligibility for remote work options.

Requirements

  • Seven years of professional level experience related to the class concept; OR
  • Six years of professional level experience related to the class concept AND an Oregon Project Management Associate Certification; OR
  • Four years of professional level experience related to the class concept AND a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or a closely related field; OR
  • Two years of professional level experience AND Project Management Professional Certification awarded by the Project Management Institute
