The purpose of this position is to prepare lenses for the edging process by marking and blocking lenses; applying tint and UV coating to lenses; and prepare and package eyewear to ship according to provider specifications according to work instructions. Requirements

  • Must be able to read English to understand written procedures, hazardous warning, etc.
  • Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to think logically in following procedures and instructions
  • General problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work varying schedules to include nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.
  • High Diploma or GED preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year of related manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Properly prioritize job flow as dictated by color code system.
  • Powers up and performs equipment validation process.
  • Places lens on the machine and verifies power, axis and dot optical center for each lens applying Davis Vision standards.
  • Checks for special instructions.
  • Identifies type of block to be used based on prescription and lens material.
  • Utilizes blocking machine to apply leap pad and remove pad tape.
  • Affixes lenses in tinting basket, tints to requested color density and UV coating.
  • Inspects each order for scratches, pits and other cosmetics flaws, returning any unacceptable jobs to the appropriate team(s) for repair.
  • Places all acceptable jobs in clear plastic bags prior to casing.
  • Cases all orders and wraps shipping invoices around order.
  • Scans eyewear ready for shipment into the computer system.
  • Sorts eyewear to be shipped into categories according to location as indicated on shipping invoice.
  • Initials the equipment verification log to confirm machine validation.
  • Ensure and maintain the cleanliness of equipment and workstation.
  • Practice and comply with all requirements of our Quality Management System (QMS), prescribed safety and hazardous materials handling procedures, and Federal/State laws regulating hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal.
