Blockhouse, established in 1971, designs, manufactures, and installs custom, commercial-grade furniture for institutions including colleges, healthcare facilities, and the military. The Finisher / Sander role involves sanding, staining, and spraying wood products to deliver high-quality finishes, paying close attention to detail and taking ownership of the final product. This is a stable, full-time day shift opportunity with benefits available after 60 days, offering cross-training and a hands-on, active work environment in a clean, professional facility with a supportive team.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of finishing experience required.
- Detail-oriented & Willing to Learn: Focuses on quality and consistency while staying open to new processes, tools, and materials.
- Problem-solver: Comfortable with repetitive, precision-based work and able to identify defects and make adjustments.
- Team-oriented: Works well with others, shows up consistently, and takes ownership of meeting production expectations.
- Able to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive motions, and bend, kneel, and lift as needed.
Responsibilities
- Prep wood surfaces using hand and power sanding tools (including orbital sanders).
- Apply stains and spray finishes with commercial-grade finishing equipment to achieve consistent, furniture-grade results.
- Match stain colors to product specifications.
- Inspect surfaces and fix defects before and after finishing.
- Troubleshoot finishing issues and adjust as needed.
- Use the right tools and techniques for different wood types.
- Work with the team to meet production goals in a fast-paced environment.
