About The Position

The City of Littleton is seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Financial Systems Analyst to serve as the Finance Department’s internal expert on financial systems, leading the configuration, optimization, integration, and modernization of Finance-owned technology platforms. This role bridges accounting, reporting, budgeting, and enterprise financial systems to ensure accurate data, regulatory compliance, efficient processes, and sustainable system solutions. With Workday ERP as the core financial platform, the Financial Systems Analyst resolves system issues, modernizes reporting, reduces reliance on external consultants, and leads replacement of obsolete billing and tax systems. This position plays a critical role in strengthening financial controls, improving audit outcomes, and enabling technology-driven financial operations. The ideal candidate is a technically strong financial systems expert who can think like an accountant, operate like a project manager, and communicate like a business partner, capable of strengthening financial controls while advancing technology-driven operations. This position will have the opportunity to work on a variety of upcoming projects such as Workday software process improvements to include internal controls, the selection and implementation of a utility billing and sales tax software, and assistance in creating/implementing a comprehensive budget system. Hiring pay range $102,609 - $108,009 per year This full-time position is exempt per FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Three (3) years of experience in financial systems, ERP administration, accounting systems, or financial reporting
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and work experience that produces the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position may be considered.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems (Workday preferred) in public sector finance environments
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting, fund accounting, GAAP, and GASB standards
  • Experience with financial reporting tools, system integrations, and data analytics
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex system and process issues
  • Strong project management and vendor coordination skills
  • High attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to translate technical system functionality into practical finance operations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with ERP platforms (Workday Financials strongly preferred)
  • Experience in government, public sector, or complex regulated environments
  • Experience leading system modernization or software replacement projects
  • Workday Financials configuration or implementation experience
  • Government finance or municipal accounting background strongly preferred
  • Advanced Excel, reporting, or BI tool proficiency strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Finance Department’s internal Workday ERP lead and subject matter expert.
  • Configures and maintains financial business processes, chart of accounts, funds, cost centers, and reporting structures.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves system errors impacting accounting accuracy, payroll postings, audits, and financial reporting.
  • Coordinates with Workday consultants to ensure sustainable solutions and knowledge transfer.
  • Modernizes and automates financial reporting to improve accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Ensures system configuration aligns with GAAP, GASB, and public-sector accounting standards.
  • Supports workflow approval processes for internal controls.
  • Develops dashboards, reports, and data tools for leadership and operational teams.
  • Leads replacement and implementation of outdated utility billing and sales tax systems.
  • Supports implementation and integration of budgeting tools and financial planning platforms.
  • Ensures seamless data flow between financial systems and enterprise platforms.
  • Documents system processes, controls, and workflows.
  • Manages finance-related system consultants to ensure accountability, scope control, and long-term value.
  • Evaluates when external support is necessary and provides recommendations to leadership.
  • Leads system improvement initiatives and technology projects within Finance.
  • Partners with IT on system infrastructure, security, and integrations.
  • Coordinates with HR on Workday touchpoints impacting payroll and personnel data.
  • Supports Finance leadership with system strategy and continuous improvement planning.
