About The Position

The Financial Strategy Analyst II plays a key role within the Finance team, combining financial analysis and data analytics to support forecasting, reporting, risk monitoring, and decision-making. This role contributes to the development and enhancement of data-driven tools and insights that support the Credit Union’s financial performance and risk management objectives.

Requirements

  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, SQL Server, Python, and other various business analytics programs and tools.
  • Effectively leverages knowledge of Accounting entries, operational budgeting, creating various financial reports, and analyzing financial data.
  • Demonstrates exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Data Analytics is preferred. Commensurate work experience will also be considered. Possession of or progress toward Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation a plus.
  • 3+ years of extensive experience in financial analysis and data analysis required. Experience working in a financial institution is preferred.
  • The ability to read and comprehend moderate to advanced instructions and correspondence.
  • The ability to write moderate to advanced correspondence within professional etiquette standards.
  • The ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.

Responsibilities

  • Supports short- and long-term financial forecasting, as well as ongoing monthly financial reporting and analysis.
  • Analyzes balance sheet, income statement, and key performance metrics, and monitors loan, deposit, and liquidity trends to support management decision-making.
  • Advances the use of deposit analytics software to maximize capabilities and deliver insights that drive balance sheet management and strategic planning.
  • Assists in the interest rate risk (IRR) modeling process by collaborating internally and externally with our vendor to generate timely output to inform balance sheet strategy.
  • Assists in creating updated forecast and risk reporting provided to the Asset Liability Committee (ALCO), Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.
  • Builds working knowledge of Credit Union data architecture, including data flows and transformations, and cross-trains on existing reporting to ensure continuity and coverage.
  • Supports data accuracy and consistency and identifies and resolves data issues as they arise.
  • Considers and leverages external data sets to combine with proprietary CCU data to generate deeper member and industry insights.
  • Assists in the development and refinement of ongoing product profitability analysis.
  • Collaborates across the organization, including close coordination with the Data Analytics and Accounting teams.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively, translates technical information for non-technical audiences, and works collaboratively within the department and across the organization.
  • Presents analysis in meetings with the Director of Finance and Investments, CFO, and other strategic decision makers, and may serve on Credit Union committees or cross-functional analysis teams as appropriate.
  • Documents associated work processes, models, and queries used across various workflows.
  • Occasional travel to all markets may be required.
  • Also assumes responsibility for other projects or duties as required or assigned.
