About The Position

Become a part of our caring community The Financial Reporting Lead prepares and distributes periodic financial statements for users other than those directly employed by the organization. The Financial Reporting Lead works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial. The Financial Reporting Lead ensures all reports and disclosures comply with applicable government regulations, professional standards and organization policies. Prepares consolidation journal entries, eliminates intercompany transactions and consolidates divisional and subsidiary financial accounts in a timely and accurate basis for inclusion in internal and external financial statements. Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance. Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision, Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action. As part of Humana's Medicaid expansion, this role will have a direct impact to support corporate accounting functions for this product. The Financial Reporting Lead performs activities supporting external financial reporting needs for several Medicaid states, including: Work assignments that are of moderate to difficult complexity, including interpretation of reporting requirements and guidelines as needed to complete reporting based on technical requirements. General understanding of core Humana processing functions related to financial results (Membership, Premium, Claims, Admin), to assist with determination of how to pull core information for reporting purposes. Familiarity with data tools to help with data consolidation, preparation, reconciliation, and submission of reporting. PLSQL, Python, or other data retrieval and processing tools may be used. Guiding and leading 2-3 direct reports who will assist with report and reconciliation preparation. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, and/or MBA/CPA
  • 5-7 years of financial accounting/reporting experience
  • Moderate experience with Microsoft Office products, primarily Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Previous experience with financial reporting and/or data analysis
  • Previous experience in working with large data sets, querying, or consolidation of results for reporting; exposure to SQL or querying tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
