About The Position

This position is responsible for the accurate delivery of financial data to a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders for assigned Shelter Insurance Company(s). The role requires ensuring that all reports, filings, and documentation adhere to the company's regulations, professional standards, and both Statutory and/or GAAP reporting guidelines. The individual is expected to maintain a current working knowledge of Statutory Codification Principles and Practices and/or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Requirements

• Demonstrated analytical abilities, excellent math, organizational and statistical skills.
• Written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to prioritize to meet frequent deadlines.
• Ability to use a personal computer with speed and accuracy in association with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Internet, the Workday Financial Management accounting system, and other company systems.
• Ability to work additional hours to meet required deadlines during seasonal periods.
• Ability to maintain schedules and work well with others.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with a desire to pursue one of the following designations within the first year of employment: CPA, CLU, CPCU, AIAF, FLMI, CMA.
• Typically requires minimum of two years’ experience in the accounting field.
• Requires a working knowledge of GAAP.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
