About The Position

Come join a growing financial technology company that’s leading the marketplace in both the marketing and servicing of credit cards! Continental Finance Company specializes in credit card options for those consumers with less than perfect credit. We are seeking a financial modeling intern to support our accounting team. Continental Finance Company interns get real-life exposure to the daily duties of the accounting department. They spend the summer as a valued member of their respective team, learning business skills and assisting with a variety of projects that have an impact on the business operations. An additional focus of the program will be to complete a final project that will be an overview of activities, tasks and experiences throughout the 10-week program.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in and working towards an undergraduate in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or similar degree and in good academic standing
  • Available to work 40 hours/week (hybrid) for a roughly 10-week summer assignment from June 2, 2026 – August 6, 2026
  • Proficiency with VBA within Microsoft Excel writing code and arrays required.
  • Experience in financial planning and analysis required.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, and advanced Excel).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Team player and can collaborate with other teams in the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.

Nice To Haves

  • Current experience in the utilization of AI tools (Chat GPT) is a plus but not required. We are currently looking to greatly expand our use of the Enterprise version.
  • Prior financial modeling experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in evaluating acquisition opportunities is a plus
  • Basic understanding of SQL and Snowflake is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Build financial models using historical data and providing forecasts based on various industry-related operating metrics.
  • Identify the key financial and non-financial risks, recommending actions for mitigation of those risks.
  • Communicate data driven insights through analysis, reporting and data visualization.
  • Responsible for identifying data gaps, emerging data sources, and improving national accounting standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
