Volunteers of America Western Washington is officially a designated CARE trauma informed organization. The Financial Manager is responsible for the comprehensive management of client finances. This position involves analyzing and assessing clients' financial situations and offering tailored guidance to help them achieve their individual goals. The role delivers expert advice on effective financial management, empowering clients to make informed financial decisions and attain long-term success. Additionally, the Financial Manager ensures that accurate financial records are maintained in accordance with Disability Services’ policies, Washington Administrative Codes, and DDA regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, or in a human services field with at least one year of experience managing client finances (relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements).
  • Proficiency in Quicken or similar accounting software, Microsoft Office (including Excel), and standard accounting practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capability to meet both scheduled and unexpected deadlines
  • Effective analytical math and communication skills, as well as attention to detail and initiative.
  • Ability to identify deficiencies by accurately analyzing client financial data.
  • Must successfully pass and maintain a DSHS background check.
  • Commitment to fulfilling ongoing training requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients, guardians, and support teams to develop and implement Individual Financial Plans that align with their Person-Centered Service Plan objectives.
  • Work with clients to establish their financial goals and develop monthly budgets.
  • Maintain client financial records with current running balances.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations for client bank accounts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of client monthly expenses.
  • Manage receipts and oversee bank deposits.
  • Prepare quarterly financial reports for the Individual and/or their Legal Representative.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Social Security Administration and complete all Representative Payee reports.
  • Conduct client reviews to obtain and maintain eligibility for benefits.
  • Collaborate with DDA to access all eligible funding sources for clients.
  • Keep up to date on related internal and external policies, WACs, Social Security regulations.
  • Partner with VOAWW’s Accounting Department to process any payments and reimbursements as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
