Financial Manager (part-time/28 hrs. per week) The Marketing & Global Supply Chain department is seeking a Financial Manager to lead financial operations and ensure fiscal integrity across our diverse programs and initiatives. This role plays a key part in managing department-wide budgets, forecasting resources, and ensuring compliance across a diverse portfolio of accounts, programs, and stakeholders. In addition to financial oversight, this ¾-time (28 hour/week) position supports office operations and contributes to the success of faculty, student programs, and experiential learning labs.

Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and one year of professional office experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and written
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field and 4 years of professional office experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Direct experience with Workday Financial Management
  • Prior work experience on campus

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee 60+ department accounts, including operational, endowment, gift and faculty funds.
  • Lead budget forecasting for both programs (Marketing and Global Supply Chain).
  • Monitor and ensure compliance for all expenditures, purchases, and financial activities.
  • Approve purchasing, travel, and expense reports for faculty, students, and department programs.
  • Develop financial reports and insights to support leadership decision-making.
  • Provide financial training and guidance to faculty, student organizations, and department partners.
  • Oversee vendor payments, contracts, and financial transactions using university systems.
  • Manage year-end close processes, journal entries, and budget adjustments.
  • Collaborate with department leadership, Deans Office, and university partners on financial matters.
  • Support office operations, including space management, equipment, and inventory.
  • Help coordinate departmental logistics, events, and operational processes.
