About The Position

The Division of Financial Institutions ensures Ohioans’ money is safe by regulating financial institutions and service providers. This includes examining, supervising and regulating Ohio chartered banks and credit unions, and licensing and regulating non-depository mortgage brokers, mortgage loan originators, and other consumer lenders. The Division’s Office of Consumer Affairs provides assistance to consumers to help resolve complaints against these institutions and works to provide education to Ohioans regarding financial literacy and other consumer protection topics. What You'll Do: Review and quality‑check reports of examination to verify examiner analysis, ratings, ensure compliance with Division guidelines, and prepare final transmittal letters. Provide ongoing oversight of assigned credit unions, working with the Chief Examiner, including annual examinations, quarterly visitations, and review of progress reports. Conduct routine surveillance and analytics, quarterly statistical analysis and monitoring reports, track examination responses and recommend/coordinate investigations of unsafe/unsound activities. Develop and standardize supervisory policy—track emerging regulatory issues across agencies, draft policy statements, and respond to complex inquiries regarding examination policies and regulatory interpretations. Provide team leadership and coverage—serve as backup to Field Supervisors/examiners and support for same. UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Requires overnight travel.

Requirements

  • Completion of undergraduate core coursework in information technology or accounting or finance with G.P.A. of 2.5 in accounting, finance or comparable coursework or information technology & with academic major to be commensurate with approved position description on file
  • 5 yrs. exp., within 10 years from date of application, in audit or financial analysis related work exp. for firm, government agency or financial institution & 2 1/2 yrs. exp. as team leader & in writing & presenting final report findings/recommendations to senior financial institution management
  • valid driver's license.
  • Or 2 yrs. exp. as Financial Institution Specialist 1, 66146, or Financial Institution Examiner 5, 66145 or other comparable regulatory experience (office of thrift supervision, national credit union administration, federal deposit insurance corporation, office of comptroller of currency or federal reserve system); valid driver's license.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
