About The Position

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Contributes to the achievement of VACU’s strategic goals through effective implementation of financial education programs. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists and Expands the planning and development of financial education initiatives focusing on K-12 students. Designs curriculum for seminars and student classes. Identifies resources to increase personal finance knowledge of members, potential members, students and others in our communities. Is knowledgeable about and incorporates effective teaching methods for varied audiences. Conducts financial education seminars and makes presentations to members, teachers, students, and other groups. Collaborates in the planning, development, coordination and delivery of seminars and classes. Evaluates and confirms learning objectives and effectiveness of classes. Educates members and potential members about VACU services and encourages them to take advantage of services and benefits that can help them get ahead financially. Maintains an effective working knowledge of VACU services and related personal finance information, including credit union and banking industry issues. Works with the Financial Education Manager to outreach to K-12 schools. Coordinates schedules for seminars and classes. Prepares classroom materials and is responsible for set up and clean up. Maintains adequate inventory of instructional materials and supplies. Consults with VACU Compliance staff as appropriate to ensure presentations and other materials and communications are in compliance with applicable regulations. Partners with different Community Organizations that are focused on K-12 Financial Education Initiatives. Complies with other credit union policies and procedures. Comply with all published enterprise level policies and procedures including, but not limited to, Risk Management policies. Complete all required, ongoing enterprise level training including, but not limited to BSA, OFAC, and Information Security. Report all Risk Management Policy violations in accordance with policy. Other duties may be required and assigned by the supervisor. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of youth and adult learning methods. Skills: Classroom teaching experience required, curriculum development skills, a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Effective presentation skills with experience presenting to adults and young people. Effective PC and technology skills, including use of PowerPoint and multi-media. Abilities: Professional image. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to relate to varied audiences. Flexibility. Ability to handle multiple priorities. Organized and effective in planning. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Minimum Education and Experience: College degree required, with major in education preferred. Sufficient years of experience in classroom teaching and curriculum development to demonstrate skills. Other Requirements: Must be able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and Saturdays. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This job requires the ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. This job requires frequent carrying or lifting of objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 20 pounds.
