About The Position

The role of the Financial Counseling Specialist encompasses all aspects of Financial Counseling and Financial Assistance. It serves as a resource for Financial Counselors, patients and the clinical care team. Identifies and counsels patients on financial services for all aspects of aide and payment arrangement options. Works with internal and external departments and is a community resource. Participates in complex discharge planning and focuses on revenue cycle management for the organization. Takes on a leadership and mentoring role within their department and assists with the development and training of the Financial Counselors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum of five years experience in health care, social services, or financial environment
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency with computers required
  • Project management and critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to act as a resource to others
  • Medicaid financial support experience
