About The Position

Seeking an experienced financial analyst and team leader to provide client-facing support across a range of financial and accounting activities. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integrity in financial operations. The specialist will guide a team in reviewing documentation, validating data, and reconciling information within established policies and controls. Key responsibilities include analyzing financial details, identifying inconsistencies, and preparing clear recommendations to support informed decision-making. Strong organizational and leadership skills are essential to manage priorities, mentor team members, and maintain service-level expectations, while fostering collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and drive efficient, compliant processes. This position is located in Washington, D.C.. Your future duties and responsibilities: Oversee review of financial documentation for completeness and accuracy. Guide analysis of supporting data to validate compliance and alignment with requirements. Confirm details in applicable systems to ensure proper funding and authorization. Maintain adherence to established policies and internal controls. Organize and manage relevant financial artifacts, including updates and supporting materials. Reconcile figures and verify consistency with contractual or organizational standards. Identify and escalate discrepancies or irregularities for resolution. Prioritize workload based on key factors such as timelines and impact. Prepare clear, concise summaries to support informed decision-making. Coordinate routing and approval processes in accordance with established procedures. Required qualifications to be successful in this role: Proven experience in financial analysis, accounting operations, or audit/controls within a structured finance environment. Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail; adept at reconciling data and identifying inconsistencies. Familiarity with financial concepts such as obligations, funding, and authorization, with the ability to work effectively in enterprise systems. Working knowledge of internal controls and compliance practices (e.g., documentation standards, approval workflows). Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups) and comfort working with datasets, logs, and supporting documentation. Clear, concise business writing—capable of preparing summaries and recommendations for stakeholder review. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks based on risk, value, and timelines. Effective leadership, collaboration, and communication skills; able to guide a team and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve issues. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience. Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required: Experience with enterprise ERP/financial systems (Momentum Financials) Experience with DHHS Payment Management System (PMS) Exposure to government grants/contracts or regulated payment environments. Basic SQL or BI/reporting tools for traceability and evidence gathering. Process improvement mindset (documenting steps, creating checklists, tightening controls). Relevant certifications (e.g., CGFM, CFE, CPA) or coursework in audit, compliance, or government financial management. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $79,600.00 - $172,400.00.
