About The Position

Financial Analyst at Surgical Institute of Reading The Financial Analyst is a key individual contributor responsible for providing financial, operational, and performance analytics to support decision-making across the surgical hospital, hospital outpatient department, business office, and physical therapy clinics. This role focuses on financial analysis, performance measurement, and reporting, with responsibility for translating clinical and operational data into insights that inform operational improvement, resource planning, and strategic initiatives. The position works closely with clinical, administrative, and executive leaders and serves as a trusted analytical partner across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience.
  • 3+ years of progressive project management experience, with demonstrated success leading large-scale, complex initiatives.
  • Experience in healthcare, payor systems, or highly regulated environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data visualization.
  • Experience with data tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems (e.g. Epic, Cerner, Meditech, CPSI) and billing platforms.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence without direct authority.

  • PMP or Six Sigma certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial and operational performance data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, including variance analysis and productivity tracking.
  • Develop and maintain recurring and ad hoc financial reports for leadership, including revenue, cost margin, and utilization analysis.
  • Prepare concise financial summaries and presentation for leadership and board review.
  • Collect, validate, and analyze data from EMRs, billing systems, scheduling platforms, and HRIS to support operational performance analysis.
  • Develop dashboard and scorecards to monitor key operational and clinic indicators such as throughput, resource utilization, staffing efficiency, and patient flow.
  • Translate complex multi-source data into clear, actionable insights for clinical and administrative leaders.
  • Perform root cause and supporting analyses related to performance variances or operational challenges.
  • Support annual strategic planning and budgeting processes through financial modeling and performance analysis.
  • Prepare executive-level summaries, presentations, and reports for leadership and board review.
  • Act as an analytic liaison between departments to ensure consistent, aligned performance reporting.
  • Support change initiatives by monitoring financial and operational impacts and reporting progress to stakeholders.
  • Partner with local and Corporate IT, finance, and clinical informatics teams to optimize data availability and reporting capabilities.
  • Support implementation, optimization, and enhancements of reporting tools and analytics platforms.
  • Identify data integrity issues and coordinate with system owners to resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain reporting documentation, definitions, and data governance practices.
  • Provide financial and analytical support for cross-functional initiatives, operational improvement efforts, and new programs.
  • Assist leaders by tracking initiative performance metrics, timelines, and financial impacts.
  • Support cost-benefit analyses, resource utilization reviews, and scenario modeling for proposed changes or investments.
  • Maintain documentation related to performance metrics, assumptions, and reporting methodologies.
