About The Position

This classification will plan, organize, develop, review, and revise accounting forms, fiscal statements, controls, information systems, and procedures to promote efficient financial records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, public administration, or closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in budgeting, finance, auditing, or closely related field.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and present findings clearly
  • Experience in municipal or governmental finance
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Tyler Munis)

Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation, completion, and issuance of the City's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
  • Analyze departmental budgets, expenditures, and revenues to ensure alignment with approved appropriations
  • Assist in the development and coordination of the City’s annual operating and capital budgets
  • Support financial forecasting and long-term planning initiatives
  • Evaluate financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings
  • Generate monthly, annual, and ad hoc reports.
  • Analysis reports as needed for internal reporting and as required by state and federal agencies.
  • Update and maintain the City's fixed assets.
  • Prepare year-end reports for the auditors.
  • Review accounts for budgeted and actual comparisons.
  • Prepare entries as needed based on accounts review.
  • Conduct standard internal audits of various revenues and expenses, funds, and departmental accounting records, performs special audits as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with both internal and external auditors.
  • Provide requested data, reports, and other necessary items to ensure the completion and accuracy of annual audits.
  • Participate in year-end closing processes and procedures in preparation of the annual audit.
  • Ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting standards and principles.
  • Ensure maintenance of proper audit trails, verification, and reconciliation actions for all processed work.
