About The Position

Provide accounting, finance and analytical support in the verification, control and processing of work activities in respective area. Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual and periodic financial statements, analyses, reports and data requests for management, internal departments and external entities. Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day to day work routine for self and others. In this role, the successful candidate will assist in administering all Daily Cash management activities. Participate in the issuance and monitoring of debt and equity securities. Assist with various shareholder service activities including oversite of stock transfer relationships and apply financial analysis, communications and marketing skills in support of investor relations programs and projects, along with other tasks and assignments.

Requirements

  • Must possess a working knowledge of accounting fundamentals and principles at a level normally acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
  • May be required to maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Subject to the Company's substance abuse testing program.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or professional certification desired.
  • JD Edwards and utility accounting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination and administration of the daily cash activity of all companies. Obtain daily bank balances and determine daily cash requirements for all companies. Execute all electronic payments via secure, internet-based bank systems. Provide administrative support to all companies regarding any of their cash management requirements.
  • Affect MDU Resources and subsidiary short-term daily borrowings based on required cash needs, repayment thereof, and short-term investment of excess funds at the direction of the department manager.
  • Assist with the coordination and administration of commercial paper borrowing programs as well as various other revolving credit facilities. Affect the movement of commercial paper proceeds and other short-term borrowings. Maintain appropriate spreadsheets detailing the total borrowings by business unit and reconcile all borrowing activity.
  • Assist with researching and assembling information and supporting data in preparation for departmental presentations, work projects and reports.
  • Implement and perform control functions to prevent banking fraud support Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.
