About The Position

HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division is the largest manufacturing employer in Mississippi and a major contributor to the economic growth of Alabama, designing, building, and maintaining amphibious ships, destroyers, and cutters for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard for nearly 85 years. The company is the largest supplier of U.S. Navy surface combatants, simultaneously building four classes of ships and pioneering technologically advanced vessels. The Financial Analyst 3 performs analyses and prepares reports to ensure contracts adhere to negotiated parameters and government cost control guidelines. This role involves preparing budgets and schedules for contract work, conducting financial analyses such as funding profiles, sales outlook, and variance analysis. The analyst also prepares program plans to capture and schedule program requirements and statements of work, ensures adequate funding by maintaining expenditure records, projecting expenditures, and requesting additional government funding. Additionally, the position incorporates contractual changes into control systems by tracking outstanding work to maintain realistic contract cost and schedule baselines.

Requirements

  • 6 Years with Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • 4 years of relevant professional experience with a Master's Degree

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge and/or proficient with SAP financial system.
  • Strong skills Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Performs analyses and prepares reports in order to ensure that contracts are within negotiated and agreed upon parameters and government cost control guidelines.
  • Prepares budgets and schedules for contract work.
  • Performs and/or assists in financial analyses such as funding profiles, sales outlook, and variance analysis.
  • Prepares program plans to ensure program requirements and statement of work are captured and scheduled.
  • Ensures adequate funding availability by maintaining accurate records of expenditures, directing preparation of expenditure projections, and submitting timely requests for additional funding to the government.
  • Incorporates contractual changes into control systems by staying aware of outstanding work against each contract in order to maintain realistic contract cost and schedule baselines.
  • Able to adjust schedule to work additional hours for any unscheduled and/or unplanned projects.
