About The Position

The Financial Aid Manager provides leadership and management in administering federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs. This position supports the Director of Financial Aid by overseeing daily operations, supervising staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and enhancing student-centered financial aid services. The Financial Aid Manager plays a key role in advancing JWCC's mission by promoting access, affordability, and student success.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible financial aid administration or related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree in business, finance, education, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education or public institutions preferred.
  • Knowledge of Banner or similar student information systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the Financial Aid Office, including processing applications, awards, and disbursements.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations.
  • Supervise and train financial aid staff and student workers, monitoring performance and service standards.
  • Provide counseling and guidance to students and families regarding financial aid eligibility, FAFSA completion, and funding options.
  • Manage federal and state programs such as Direct Loans, Work-Study, SEOG, SAP, Verification, and Default Management.
  • Lead reconciliation of multiple funding sources, prepare for audits, and maintain accurate records.
  • Oversee the Work-Study program, verification reporting, and VA benefits support.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, Business Services, Student Services, and IT to streamline processes and improve the student experience.
  • Maintain and update the Financial Aid Policy and Procedure Manual and ensure institutional website and Banner system accuracy.
  • Represent the Director of Financial Aid in their absence and participate in campus and community meetings.
