About The Position

The Financial Aid Advisor I provides a vast array of knowledge regarding federal aid programs, private lending procedures, and university policies under general supervision. Informs students of public, institutional, and private resources available for educational expenses. Evaluates the financial need of applicants and applies knowledge to those needs. Administers federal aid funding and resolves low-complexity financial aid issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Must have valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies.
  • Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Effective listening skills.
  • Ability to meet and address the public and effectively work with concerned clients.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Superior organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet, and/or database management.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public relations, marketing, communications, education, counseling or related field; or a bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field with one (1) year financial aid experience at a major university to include a basic knowledge of federal student aid programs.
