About The Position

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) is in Louisville, Kentucky and serves as the largest Sheriff’s Office and fourth largest law enforcement agency in the state. Its approximately 250 sworn, 60 civilian and 75 volunteer Reserve Deputies perform its main duties of providing court security, serving court orders, and collecting property taxes. The members of JCSO also serve the community by supporting the work of local charitable organizations and providing a positive presence that ensures the safety of residents of Jefferson County. The Finance Supervisor II provides front-line supervision and operational support for the Accounting, Cashiering, and Tax Collection functions within the Finance Department. This position oversees the daily work of staff, ensures the accuracy of financial transactions and tax collection activities, and assists staff with routine operational issues. Complex financial, operational, or personnel matters are referred to the Finance Supervisor I. The location of this position is Downtown Louisville at 515 West Market Street. This position is 100% on-site with working hours of 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday.

Requirements

  • Must have two years of supervisory experience.
  • Graduate of two-year business college in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • An equivalent amount of related experience may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the daily activities of Accounting, Cashiering, and Tax Collection personnel under the direction of Finance Supervisor I.
  • Provides instruction and guidance to staff regarding departmental procedures, policies, and daily operational processes.
  • Monitors financial processing and tax collection activities to ensure transactions are completed accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assists staff with routine operational questions and provides first-level resolutions for day-to-day issues.
  • Ensure financial records, reports, and reconciliations are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Reviews of work completed by staff for completeness and accuracy prior to escalation or further review.
  • Maintains departmental records, files, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Assists in the implementation and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Works tactfully and diplomatically with the public, other agencies, department heads, supervisors, and co-workers to provide assistance and resolve routine issues.
  • Communicates operational concerns, financial discrepancies, or unresolved issues to the Finance Supervisor I.
  • Performs computer data entry and financial system processing as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Supervises the daily work of staff responsible for Accounts Payable, Cashiering, and Tax Collection functions.
  • Ensures bank reconciliation processes, financial reports, and departmental records are maintained accurately.
  • Assist staff with resolving routine financial processing or tax collection issues.
  • Ensures daily financial reports, deposits, and related documentation are completed and maintained.
  • Reviews financial and tax processing activities to verify compliance with departmental procedures.
  • Maintains organized records and documentation for financial and tax operations.
  • Communicate operational issues or discrepancies to the Finance Supervisor I for further review or resolution.
