About The Position

The Accounting & Finance Summer Analyst will partner with the Technical Accounting, General Ledger, Consolidation, and Financial Reporting teams to support month end close, statutory reporting, and ongoing process improvements. This hands on rotation provides exposure to U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and internal control frameworks while introducing technical accounting expertise in a fast paced, multinational environment. Technical Accounting: Assist in evaluating new accounting standards (e.g., ASC 842, ASC 606) and preparing impact analyses. Research and document accounting treatments for complex transactions. General Ledger (GL): Participate in daily journal entry preparation, posting, and review. Reconcile GL sub ledger balances to the primary ledger and perform analytical procedures on balance sheet and income statement items. Consolidation: Support the preparation of inter company eliminations and consolidations using ERP and consolidation tools (e.g., Hyperion, OneStream). Verify data integrity across subsidiaries and assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements. Financial Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual external filings (10 Q, 10 K) and internal management reports. Perform variance analysis and draft commentary for senior management. Cross Functional Projects: Participate in process automation initiatives (e.g., RPA, Power BI). Collaborate with audit, tax, and treasury teams on ad hoc requests. Team works in office a minimum of one day a week and more often at month end and quarter close periods. Preference is for candidates to be near the Bethesda, MD office.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or Master’s) program majoring in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong academic foundation in financial accounting, managerial accounting, and corporate finance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic macros).
  • Ability to obtain (or already possess) a U.S. work authorization for the internship period.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship or project experience in accounting, finance, or audit.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday) and/or consolidation software.
  • Experience with data analysis tools (Power Query, Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • High integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
