About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Summer Intern at UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement, based in our Evanston, Illinois, office. The Finance Summer Intern will support both the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and accounting teams. This internship provides meaningful, hands‑on exposure to financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly close processes across a dynamic, mission‑driven organization. It is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a career in corporate finance or accounting. What you’ll learn and achieve: As the Finance Summer Intern, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you: FP&A Responsibilities Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to support business decision‑making. Analyze financial trends, variances, and results to identify key drivers and opportunities. Support capital and major project expenditure tracking compared to planned budgets. Perform ad‑hoc financial analysis and contribute to special projects led by the FP&A team. Accounting Responsibilities Participate in the monthly close process, including variance analysis and review of financial results. Support reconciliation activities and preparation of financial reports as needed. Assist with maintaining accurate financial data, files, and documentation. Cross Functional & Administrative Responsibilities Partner with cross‑functional teams to gather financial information and support process improvements. Assist in maintaining Finance SharePoint sites, templates, and finance‑related tools. Prepare presentations, reports, and other deliverables for internal stakeholders. Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.
