Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years of experience specifically within the Government Contracting (GovCon) industry.
  • Payroll Expertise: Proven experience managing multi-state payroll and a strong understanding of federal/state payroll tax regulations.
  • GovCon Knowledge: Familiarity with FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) and DCAA compliance requirements is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in GovCon-specific ERPs (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or Sage Intacct).
  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, data manipulation).
  • Experience with payroll platforms
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills for resolving employee inquiries and the ability to handle sensitive, confidential data with total discretion.

Nice To Haves

  • GovCon Knowledge: Familiarity with FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) and DCAA compliance requirements is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, record and maintain general ledger entries and GL account reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Reconcile bank accounts and intercompany accounts
  • Support financial statement preparation (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow)
  • Support revenue recognition and cost allocation for cost-plus, T&M, fixed price contracts
  • Prepare and submit customer, subcontractor and vendor invoices
  • Process and finalize payroll accurately and timely
  • Review, audit, and validate payroll data (hours, rates, deductions, taxes)
  • Serve as primary point of contact for payroll inquiries and issue resolution
  • Coordinate with employees and project managers to resolve timesheet discrepancies
  • Perform labor distribution, journal entries, GL reconciliations and benefits mapping
  • Maintain records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Prepare and assist with tax filings, W-2 preparation, state taxes and year-end reporting
  • Record, maintain and reconcile PTO accruals, leave balances, employee and employer contributions, deductions
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Support process improvements, system enhancements or implementations
  • Generate payroll, labor, and financial reports for management
  • Support Accounting and FP&A team and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and management
