About The Position

Junior Achievement of Southern California Part-time Finance Park Facilitators, JA Finance Park Be part of a student’s favorite school field trip of the year! As a JA Finance Park Facilitator, you will host daily simulations for middle and high school students as they learn personal finance skills in our one-of-a-kind financial literacy learning center, located near Griffith Park in Los Angeles. See the JA Finance Park simulation in action: JA Finance Park Simulation video link This position will host the student JA Finance Park simulation experience , emcee the event for the day, train participating volunteers upon arrival in the morning, and assist with cleanup at the end of the simulation. The position is responsible for ensuring high-quality experiences for students, volunteers, and teachers. Summary: The JA Finance Park simulation field trip = teaches students how to budget, save, and manage their money, and plan financial goals. The JA Finance Park Facilitator is responsible for ensuring that participating students, teachers, and volunteers have a positive experience during their on-site simulation visit. During the simulation, students use a tablet while working in small groups led by volunteers. These volunteers serve as guides and mentors as they lead critical conversations and offer help, advice, and insight on career and personal finance topics. The JA Finance Park Facilitator supports the volunteers throughout the day, from volunteer training in the morning to leading a volunteer debrief and final goodbyes in the afternoon. The JA Finance Park Facilitator is also responsible for managing the program schedule, flow, and interactions between students and volunteers. The Facilitator will perform Learning Center opening and closing procedures and manage technology and materials used during the day. During the JA Finance Park field trip, the Facilitator maintains program fidelity by ensuring that routines and procedures are done with consistency while serving as a friendly, supportive, and inspirational host in our immersive and fun learning environment. Requirements

  • Experience with and enjoyment of working with middle and high school students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong Communication Skills – Must be able to explain procedures, teach others, ask thoughtful questions, and guide conversations with students, teachers, and volunteers.
  • Strong Presentation and Public Speaking skills – Must be able to share information while keeping audiences of up to 120 people engaged
  • People Skills – Ability to interact effectively with students, teachers, volunteers, and coworkers.
  • Organizational Skills - Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and ensure smooth operation of the simulation.
  • Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to address challenges and help students and volunteers find solutions within the simulation.
  • Comfort with Technology – Familiarity with technology, particularly tablets and online learning platforms
  • Ability to be on your feet for long periods.

Responsibilities

  • Set up the learning center on days with student visits.
  • Prepare and organize student technology and materials and be ready to adjust when there is a last-minute or unexpected change in those numbers.
  • Greet and check in volunteers upon arrival.
  • Train and support volunteers daily.
  • Provide excellent customer service to our volunteer base.
  • Emcee and manage the student experience for the day, motivating and inspiring middle and high schoolers to see the potential of their futures.
  • Coordinate and communicate safety and logistical procedures with visiting teachers and chaperones.
  • Respond to technology problems that students or volunteers need help with.
  • Facilitate the volunteer debrief session at the end of the simulation.
  • Reset the JA Finance Park learning center after the program has been completed.
  • Provide information, feedback, or summaries to the Director of Experiential Learning Centers as requested.
  • Assist JA team members with any marketing or grant reporting data that must be completed during a JA Finance Park session per funding requirements
