About The Position

The Finance Operations Analyst is responsible for both core accounting operations and institutional business analysis. This position ensures the integrity of financial records through timely reconciliations, journal entries, and budget adjustments while also leveraging data and process evaluation to improve operational efficiency and support strategic decision-making. The role collaborates extensively with finance, academic departments, student services, enrollment management, and IT to align financial accuracy with business process improvements that enhance institutional effectiveness and student success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting, finance, or business analysis, preferably in higher education or a nonprofit environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and accuracy in all work.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as Jenzabar, Ellucian, or similar platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to assess business needs, document processes, and recommend efficiency improvements.
  • Analyze data to support enrollment, budgeting, resource allocation, and accreditation requirements.
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements for enterprise systems (e.g., Jenzabar, Canvas) and support implementation, testing, and training.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and impact assessments for proposed changes.
  • Implement fiscal policies and internal controls; propose process enhancements.
  • Create reports, process maps, and presentations for leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts monthly, including Financial Aid accounts, accounts payable, credit cards, purchase cards, payroll liabilities, and grants.
  • Manage grant-related budgets and ensure compliance with internal and external funding regulations.
  • Prepare, review, and enter journal entries; maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP.
  • Cross-train with team members and provide support during staff absences.
  • Other duties as assigned.
