About The Position

The Financial Office Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department by assisting with bookkeeping, financial reporting, and administrative tasks. This role helps ensure accurate, timely financial information that supports the mission of Community & Home Supports to address homelessness and poverty

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 1–2 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or administrative experience; nonprofit finance experience is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; comfort working with financial software.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of financial and personnel information.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining and updating financial and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support bookkeeping and general accounting tasks, including data entry and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes (coding invoices, payment processing, deposits, etc.)
  • Help compile monthly reimbursement documentation for funders.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly financial workpapers and statements.
  • Support the development and monitoring of agency-wide and program-specific budgets.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly and annual financial reports for the Board of Directors.
  • Help coordinate preparation for the annual audit, including gathering and organizing documentation.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end financial close processes.
  • Maintain organized and secure financial files and records.
  • Purchasing, receiving, inventorying, tracking, and distributing supplies, materials, equipment, etc.
  • Help prepare meeting agendas and record, file, and organize meeting minutes.
  • Attend relevant meetings and trainings as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the finance team.
