Our client is an international group of companies operating within the aviation industry and headquartered in Malta. Due to continued expansion, the organisation is seeking to appoint a Finance Manager to join its Finance Team. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with team members to support the Group’s accounting and financial reporting requirements.

  • Assuming full finance ownership for the setup and ongoing financial management of a newly established maintenance company in Malta.
  • Gaining a strong understanding of the Group’s business, with particular emphasis on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes and timelines.
  • Updating, monitoring, and reviewing bookkeeping activities.
  • Issuing and reviewing customer invoices, maintaining and following up on aged receivables, accrued income, and related matters.
  • Posting and reviewing purchase invoices and overseeing accounts payable.
  • Managing day-to-day financial operations such as general ledger entries, reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
  • Leading monthly and annual reporting tasks, including intercompany reconciliations, ensuring completeness of accruals and prepayments, proper income and cost allocation, and reviewing/reconciling balance sheet accounts.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts.
  • Supervising, training, and mentoring junior finance team members.
  • Processing and reviewing payments.
  • Preparing cash flow forecasts and conducting related financial analyses.
  • Preparing budgets and other financial reports as required.
  • Managing financial and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Assisting with periodic VAT and tax reporting.
  • Liaising with external auditors to ensure timely and smooth audit completion.
  • Addressing finance-related queries from banks, suppliers, customers, internal teams, professional advisors, and third parties.
  • Documenting and updating internal control procedures to enhance financial controls and operational workflows.
  • Participating in assigned internal projects.
  • Performing any other duties necessary for the efficient running of the finance department.
  • A university degree in Accounting or a full ACCA qualification (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role in Malta.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS.
  • Good understanding of local and cross-border VAT laws.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Professional, dependable, and deadline-driven.
  • Logical, methodical, and structured in approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Maltese proficiency is preferred.
  • Strong ability to interpret and communicate technical accounting matters
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and related IT tools.
  • Team-oriented, with strong collaboration skills across departments.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and proactive with a can-do attitude.
  • Capable of working independently and thriving under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience in the aircraft maintenance sector or stock management is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of local tax laws is an advantage.
