About The Position

Neighborhood House is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the organization and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This role plays a key leadership function in maintaining strong financial controls, supporting budgeting and cash flow management, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and funder requirements. The Finance Manager works closely with the Director of Finance, program leadership, and external partners to provide reliable financial information that supports effective decision-making. This position supervises accounting staff and emphasizes collaboration, operational excellence, and high-quality customer service. Neighborhood House is a non-profit agency providing social services for children, families, seniors, and people experiencing food and housing insecurity. We have been engaging in anti-poverty work for 120 years, offering a safety net to ensure that our community has the support they need to thrive.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, fund accounting, and restricted funds
  • 3–5 years of accounting or financial management experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reporting
  • Experience with grants, contracts, audits, and regulatory compliance
  • Proficiency with accounting software (Blackbaud preferred) and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • High ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality and accountability

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree (MBA, MPA, or MS in Accounting/Finance) preferred
  • CPA or other relevant professional certification strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and reconciliations
  • Prepare and review financial reports for senior leadership and the Board
  • Oversee cash management, banking relationships, and forecasting support
  • Support annual budgeting and ongoing budget monitoring with program leaders
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, internal controls, and funder requirements
  • Oversee grant and restricted fund tracking and financial reporting
  • Lead audit preparation and support required financial filings
  • Improve financial systems, processes, and documentation to enhance efficiency
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff to support strong team performance
  • Collaborate across departments to promote financial accuracy and accountability
