About The Position

We are looking for a Finance Intern to join our team from March to August! This role will report to the Finance Director and work closely with them in their day-to-day work to help support and manage all Finance needs. You will learn about - How Giant Spoon’s Accounting and Finance department is structured and the various roles and responsibilities of our team, The accounting of an advertising agency (expenses, revenue and billing, job tracking), Advertising client financial management. As a Giant Spoon intern, you will be welcome to join any town halls, weekly updates, lunches and happy hours during your time with us. As part of the program in the summer, we will also be offering a series of workshops and Q&As with craft leads to gain insights into the day to day of neighboring departments. This team is based in the New York office and works in a hybrid fashion with in-office work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. We are looking for candidates who can join us in NYC! For March - May, we are open to current students in their final semester working part-time, but starting in June, the intern will be expected to work 40 hours per week through the end of the program.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a career in accounting, economics, finance or related fields
  • Strong interest in learning about the business and / or accounting of a company, especially in advertising
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with ability to manage priorities and deadlines
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Passionate about the details
  • Digitally connected, passionate about technology and innovation with an insatiable curiosity for how it applies to our industry
  • Experience working with Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets) a plus
  • Experience working with excel / Google sheets

Responsibilities

  • Helping with various accounting tasks as well as ad hoc reporting and analysis
  • Assist with vendor payments, employee expense reimbursement reviews and payments
  • Assist with opening and closing projects in our accounting and time keeping systems
  • Create a Spoonshot project (a mini-presentation on a relevant topic) in collaboration with other interns that will be presented internally at Giant Spoon
