About The Position

Manage and lead a team of finance professionals, providing direction and mentorship to direct reports. Collaborate with executive leadership to update company policies, procedures, and finance systems, communicating and enforcing organization values in compliance with all legal and organizational requirements, standards, and procedures. Manage and facilitate organizational change efforts while building relationships and creating buy-in. Collaborate with and provide guidance and technical oversight for staff in other regions who perform finance functions. Perform organizational financial management as required by law/funders. Engage auditors yearly. Coordinate with an external accounting firm to file IRS Form 990 and 1099. Prepare and file annual Report on Foreign Bank and Financial Account (FBAR) and associated state registrations. Coordinate with an insurance broker to ensure proper coverage. Supervise two Finance Analysts and collaborate with staff in other regions who perform finance functions. Perform day-to-day financial management. Prepare overall organization budget by compiling input from program staff and directors. Manage grants by preparing all funder budgets and reports, track and monitor grant revenue release and grants receivable. Ensure financial system and processes adheres to funder guidelines and requirements. Serve as chair for the Earth Rights’ Investment Committee and main contact for the investment firm. Manage 401k plan, and prepare quarterly financial statements. Participate in and contribute to the work of EarthRights’ leadership team by working with office managers in internal offices to ensure proper internal controls for those offices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and eight years of experience as a Financial Analyst, Accountant or related occupation
  • 2 years of experience in Managing shared accounting systems with two or more offices in other countries.
  • 2 years of experience in Overseeing compliance with accounting requirements and tax regulations to maintain the organization’s tax-exempt status in the organization’s respective country and/or countries of operation.
  • 2 years of experience in Working with an insurance broker to ensure proper coverage, including Directors & Officers,cyber, malpractice and property insurance.
  • 2 years of experience in Managing organizational and donor audits.
  • 2 years of experience in Overseeing the financial and accounting systems of projects and programs funded by a diverse range of donors, including those based in North America and Europe.
  • 2 years of experience in Budgeting, including preparing the overall organization budget, compiling input from program staff and directors and preparing working documents with budget and actual reports that are sent to all budget managers.
  • 2 years of experience in Managing grants, including preparation of funder budgets and reports and keeping track of all grants, grant revenue release, and grants receivable; ensure financial system and processes adheres to funder guidelines and requirements.
  • 2 years of experience in Managing a corporate finance or accounting team in the nonprofit sector.
