About The Position

The Finance & Capital Markets Intern will support the credit union's finance and treasury functions, gaining hands-on exposure to balance sheet management, investments, interest rate risk, liquidity planning, and capital markets activities. This role is designed for students interested in banking, financial markets, corporate finance, or risk management within a cooperative financial institution.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Business
Strong interest in financial markets, banking, or treasury management
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, formulas)
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Ability to handle confidential financial information

Responsibilities

Assist with assets liability management (ALM) reporting, including interest rate risk and net interest margin analysis
Support monitoring of liquidity positions, cash flows, and funding sources (e.g., FHLB advances, deposits, investments)
Help prepare and analyze investment portfolio reports (securities performance, duration, yield, and credit quality)
Assist with capital planning and regulatory ratio tracking
Conduct market research on interest rate trends, yield curves, and macroeconomic developments
Support scenario analysis and stress testing for interest rates and liquidity risk
Help prepare materials for ALCO (Asset Liability Committee) meetings
Maintain financial models and spreadsheets used for forecasting and analysis
Perform due diligence analysis for the sale or purchase of loan participations
Perform ad hoc analysis and special projects as assigned
Understand balance sheet and interest rate risk management at a credit union
