About The Position

Overview TD Securities US Finance is a part of the wider TD Securities Finance group, as one of the three regional finance groups for the Wholesale Banking segment of TD Bank Group it has a key role in the USA providing support in financial, management, liquidity, and regulatory reporting. In addition, by its nature as a primary control and support group in the region, TDS Finance USA provides business information supporting projects and initiatives often as the liaison with the other groups and segments both in the US and Canada but also with the other regions (UK and Singapore). The Specialized Finance Analyst, TDS performs a variety of specialized finance functions in a particular finance area(s) on an entry-level basis. Depth & Scope: Experienced working professional role providing specialized business services, advisory or processes / program support within their own area of speciality Requires experienced, conceptual and practical knowledge within their own specialty and knowledge of broader related areas Accountable for own work and sometimes others; acts as an escalation point or knowledge resource for others in their own area May support projects or workstreams within broader projects with moderate risk or complexity and may be accountable for managing ongoing activities, processes and functional programs Works within broad guidelines / policies and independently performs tasks from end to end May be responsible for solving moderately complex problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions Exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information Conveys business context when providing guidance within field of specialty to internal or external stakeholders Work performed under minimal management guidance and supervision Identifies and leads problem resolution

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Business/Accounting/Financial Management, with accounting designation preferred.
  • Proven analytical skills and sound judgment in a dynamic business environment.
  • The ability to translate high volumes of /complex reporting requirements and data into simple, consistent, and sustainable processes.
  • Demonstrated data aggregation and reconciliation skills.
  • Strong sense of process and data governance and strong attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated individual with a proven track record to deliver results.
  • A fluid, intuitive, and logical thinker with a high level of curiosity to learn and interest in determining and implementing process improvements.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills to meet tight deadlines as well as flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Understanding of Wholesale Banking/Capital Markets businesses, products and associated balance sheet and P&L
  • Collaborative, team player with ability to work individually.
  • Advanced Excel and MS Access skills required
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage up as well as laterally with business partners.
  • Confident communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to facilitate working with business and senior management at all levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Alteryx skills/knowledge a plus.
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support regulatory deliverables associated with TDS and prepare regulatory reports for FRB & US Treasury reporting.
  • Support regulator inquires on reports within scope of responsibilities.
  • Support Governance related tasks/mandate and work closely with Compliance and 1B business partners to understand and satisfy requirements, if needed.
  • Action opportunities to improve and further automate existing processes and reporting within area of responsibility including the use of tools such as Alteryx.
  • Continuously focus on further developing strong understanding of regulatory concepts and practices.
  • Work closely with the manager to build strong data/process governance and key controls and analytics for the TDS US Regulatory Reporting team.
  • Support the alignment of current regulatory reporting processes with new processes as they are being implemented to ensure integrity of the regulatory reports being filed.
  • Support other key departmental projects and initiatives as assigned by manager.
  • Maintain and build upon existing procedure documents and processes by updating and performing ongoing review of all information required to support reports; includes information gathering from source systems and working with business partners to source required information.
  • Take part in monthly team variance discussions to facilitate regulatory reporting flux analysis process.
  • Specializes in particular areas according to established policies and procedures and applicable legal and regulatory guidelines
  • Communicates and meets regularly with partners to support and develop an understanding of their business
  • Responds to partner requests on a timely basis
  • Interacts with internal/external partners, organize meetings/ events or facilitate learning sessions/ presentations for dissemination of information
  • Identifies and implements opportunities for improvement to processes, controls, tools, fine tuning forms, tracking, reporting, etc. for the functions supported
  • Contributes to regular reports of the Bank's financial condition and/ or assigned regulatory reports (e.g., activities related to the month-end financial closing, which details the Bank's month-to-month financial condition)
  • Reviews assigned less complex monthly financial activity and ensure transactions are appropriately recorded in proper accounts
  • Researches discrepancies and makes corrections and updates as necessary
  • Coordinates and may lead policy related meetings / discussions and address any implementation issues / concerns
  • Supports the development, implementation and understanding of training material, reports, presentations and procedures for new policies and/or processes
  • Conducts impact assessments on employees when changes in policies/processes are proposed
  • Contributes to various operational activities and processes as assigned
  • Consistently exercises discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalates issues where appropriate
  • Be knowledgeable of practices and procedures within own area of responsibility and keeps abreast of emerging trends for own functional area
