This summer, we are seeking a highly motivated student interested in exploring how artificial intelligence can transform Finance processes and decision-making. The Finance AI Innovation Intern will support our Finance organization’s AI enablement initiatives by helping identify, prototype, and evaluate AI use cases using tools such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot Chat. This role will work directly within Finance to help modernize workflows, improve efficiency, and enhance analytical insights through responsible AI experimentation. CSAA Internship Program: As an intern, you will participate in an 11-week summer internship experience with an emphasis on hands-on learning and real-world immersion into our business. Our interns participate in professional development and job-specific training and plenty of networking opportunities to gain deep understanding of their role and department while also broadening their knowledge of CSAA’s business. Internship Details: The anticipated dates of our 2026 summer internship will be May 26 – August 7. This role will be hybrid based in Walnut Creek, CA. The anticipated hourly rate for this role is $28.00.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student, in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems or related field, ideally graduating in December 2026 or May 2027.
  • Strong interest in how AI and emerging technologies can transform Finance functions.
  • Exposure to ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or similar AI tools required.
  • Foundational understanding of investments, financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, or financial analysis.
  • Experience using Excel and PowerPoint required; familiarity with data analysis tools is a plus.
  • Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas in both written and verbal formats.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, professionalism, and collaborative mindset.
  • GPA of 3.0+ preferred.
  • Must have authorization to work indefinitely in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Finance teams including Investments, Internal Audit, Accounting, Tax and others to identify and prioritize AI use cases that improve efficiency, reporting, and analysis.
  • Assist in redesigning Finance workflows using an AI-first mindset, including process mapping and identification of automation opportunities.
  • Support the development, refinement, and analysis of financial models and reports by sourcing relevant inputs (industry data, external research, key assumptions) and interpreting financial statements and outputs, leveraging AI tools to enhance insights and efficiency.
  • Support the Investments team by exploring AI applications in investment accounting, reporting, reconciliations, and analytics, including the creation of custom GPTs to support investment accounting workflows.
  • Assist with streamlining operational and compliance-related support tasks, including data entry (e.g., MAR support, risk assessments), testing activities, and preparation of recurring reports.
  • Develop prompt libraries, documentation, and training materials to enable responsible and effective AI usage within Finance.
  • Conduct financial and process analysis to evaluate pilots, track adoption metrics, and assess value realization.
  • Present findings, insights, and recommendations to Finance leadership and cross-functional partners.
