About The Position

Responsible for assisting in the management, administrative direction, and coordination of staff and activities of an operational unit or program within a budget, financial, and/or accounting services area. Provides guidance and direction to staff involved in fiscal and accounting services and programs, which may include grants compliance, budget analysis, account reconciliation, purchasing, payroll, collections and financial reporting. Participates in strategic planning, staffing decisions, and other key areas. Assumes delegated authority/responsibility to recommend and implement policies within area of responsibility. Analyze and recommend new or updates to business systems for efficient and effective operating. Assists in developing and maintaining partnerships throughout the Agency in order to attain departmental goals and objectives. Conducts research as appropriate for projects or initiatives within the assigned section. May be assigned budgetary responsibilities.

  • Fiscal/Accounting Technology - Knowledge of electronic data processing as it applies to fiscal and accounting activities.
  • Accounting Principles - Knowledge of and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Project Planning - Knowledge of principles and practices of project planning, development, and evaluation.
  • Management Practices - Knowledge of the concept, principles and practices of management.
  • Budgeting Practices - Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
  • Data Collection - Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of financial data collection and report preparation.
  • Accounting Systems - Knowledge of accounting systems and practices.
  • At least eight years of verifiable related experience in accounting or governmental accounting.
  • Post-secondary degrees from an accredited college or university with a major in [insert specific majors] may be used as an alternative for the required years of experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • A credential evaluation report from an  approved agency must be submitted along with all foreign degrees.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Revenue Management activities, including timely collection, recording, and depositing funds.
  • Experience in supervising or leading staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong reconciliation skills.
