About The Position

Due to continuing growth, Michigan Broadband Services is looking for a talented Field Technician to join our team. This position will report to the Johannesburg office daily and will service our customers located in Chester and the surrounding areas, including Amble, Grace Harbor, Traverse City, and Manistee River. The ideal applicant will be willing to perform physical labor, work efficiently, and must be highly self-motivated. Must also be willing to enter customer premises in a respectful manner. This position offers a highly competitive wage and a full benefit package. Training, tools and a company vehicle are provided.

Requirements

Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills
Must be able to pass a background check
Valid driver’s license and acceptance with our insurance carrier required
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and ladder climb
High school diploma is required

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of fiber installation and splicing is a bonus but not required

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair fiber to the home (FTTH) including planning the cable path, stripping and splicing the fiber, and connecting it to the network
Maintain subscriber carrier systems, terminals, protection devices and customer owned equipment
Ability to install and repair modems, drops, and any other necessary equipment in customer homes and businesses
Ability to use small hand tools, power tools and test equipment
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as maps, staking sheets and service order/repair tickets
Must always represent the company in a professional manner
Schedule is Monday – Friday but occasionally requires overtime and weekend work
