About The Position

This is the entry level position within the Operations Field Technician job family. This position includes a progression to Field Technician 2 after two years and the completion of necessary training and Operator Qualifications (OQs). Essential Functions Responsible for the installation, repair and replacement of distribution facilities such as main lines and services and for the operation and maintenance of construction equipment. Will work to serve the needs of a residential and commercial customer base. Operates all light earth-moving equipment, such as backhoe, side boom, tamper, and hydra-crane. Duties include maintenance of said equipment (including cleaning, greasing and lubricating) and transportation of equipment and/or materials.

Requirements

  • Must live within 25 miles AND 30 minutes of Reporting Locations: - 3550 Johnny Appleseed Court, Columbus, OH 43231 - 1610 Eastgate Parkway, Gahanna, OH 43230
  • Must have a mechanical aptitude and be able to use various types of hand tools needed for repair of field facilities.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a valid Ohio operators and commercial driver's license (CDL) and certification to operate company trucks under the DOT/Ohio Motor Carrier Safety Regulations for intrastate drivers within 3 months of being awarded the job.
  • Must be able to perform basic math calculations, prepare legible records and understand written and oral communications.
  • Must have ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Dependable in terms of adherence to deadlines and presence on the job.
  • Requires skill in reading/interpreting gauges & dials
  • Must be able to be certified to wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
  • Job requires working in all weather conditions.
  • All positions are subject to applicable DOT (Department of Transportation) Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Plan (AMPP) regulations.
  • All positions must be able to respond to emergency calls and work scheduled and nonscheduled overtime.
  • Successful candidates must pass pre-employment Attitude Assessment, Aptitude Testing, Physical Capability Assessment, Drug Screen, MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) screen and Background report.
  • Successful candidates must abide by area specific living requirements.
  • Knowledge of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act) regulations concerning pipeline safety and underground construction practices.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
